DUD OF THE MONTH COLLECTION!
YO BRO
(Camp California, 1991)

Intro and story:
Yo Bro!? C'mon seriously now? The game developers over at the game company called Camp California (remember all the games they made?) decided to make their first Turbografx-16 title by giving it one of the worst ever names in gaming history. OK, OK maybe I'm being hard on Yo Bro since I haven't even started the review yet but not only does the name suck a big one but the game itself isn't much better either and that's how bad it is. Anyway, if you still care Yo Bro is a horribly cheesy skateboarding game starring some odd California bear who attacks odd ball enemies like giant plants, rats, and slime monsters who want to kill innocent humans for some stupid reason.
The game play and bottomline:
Because your bear is always on a skateboard here the game is very difficult to control since it is hard to keep the stupid character still. This is annoying because to shoot enemies you need to be precise with your shots but it's hard to do that when this lamea$$ surfer dude when it takes forever to line up your attacks. The later levels are especially cheap with a lot of multiplying enemies all over the large areas and you are under the clock as well which just adds a few more swear words you would yell at this game.

The game isn't much to look at since the different streets and beaches are rather bland and the limited bonus stages like the Superman-esque level much better visually but you see them too much here overall. Now because this game is licensed by Camp California it uses exclusive Beach Boy music which sounds cool ... at first. Sadly, you are better off just getting rid of that scratchy stuff in the options menu because it didn't translate too well.

If you choose to pass on this weak Yo Bro game here then you're missing nothing because this is a barely functional overhead shooter with boring scenery, poorly translated music, and some really bad controls.
Here is my 8 minute video review of Yo Bro too!
Warning: there is some swearing in it because it got me pretty mad:
Conclusion:
YO BRO
overall rating: 30/100
