CALL of DUTY 4 Modern Warfare (Ubisoft, 2007)
The Call of Duty series is famous for it's great take on World War II but now Ubisoft decides to jump ahead to the year 2000 something so you get a whole new look for the aging series. The single player game uses a great story where you play the roles of US or British forces trying to find a middle eastern terrorist. The story telling is as great as ever but now you have a wide range of more advance weapons and computer intel that really juices up the long running series here. The graphics are also some of the best you'll see in 2007 with very realistic stages, effects, and great action that rivals a lot of hollywood movies out there. The multi-player is even better though with a great range of maps and modes to play plus you may be able to fire off another shot after you been taking out. The single player is linear and short but there is still a lot of game here.

08 MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM Crossfire (Bandai/Namco, November 17, 2006)

Gundam Crossfire for the PS3 was once one of the most antipaticated titles for the console here thanks to its stunning robot on robot action in the video previews. So did the game live up to the hype: Hell no! In this disappointment there isn't much story here; you just play as a giant mech that must battle other rival mechs across several different missions. Your mechs have some cool close and long range weapons that can be upgraded but the action fills too simple with the instant lock on feature and the bad computer A.I. If that wasn't bad enough the game looks like complete crap! Not only is the game loaded with nasty fog and underdetailed environments that wouldn't be passable on the Playstation2 but the game even runs into a lot of frame rate problems too. The game has a two player but it's split screen only the game runs even worse then so its pointless. Gundam Crossfire isn't fun, its just a total disgrace that should have never been released.

68 MOTORSTORM (Sony, 2007)

Now if you want to show off the power of that Playstation3 you just bought then pop this sucker in. Motorstorm is not an intense racing game where you drive in several dangerous rocky mountain locations, but the graphics in here are absolutely incredible. Although the visuals don't look nearly as good as the fake demo videos of 2005 and the crashes don't quite reach the insanely of a Burnout Revenge, the game has some excellent looking scenery and I like how you can create tracks in the mud that will still be there in the next laps. You also have a good variety in vehicles that ranges from motorbikes to big monster trucks and the game even gives you the option to use standards or motion sensitive ones. The game has a great list of rock music and a cool party atmosphere but my only question is why is there no local multi-player in the game? It would have really helped in the replay value here and the game can get very repetitive after a few plays. Motorstorm is still fun to play but I found the lack of depth disappointing.

23 SONIC The Hedgehog (Sega/Sonic Team, 2006)

Sonic The Hedgehog isn't the worse game on the PS3 (that honour goes to Gundam so far) but it's clear that this one 3D platformer was released way too early. It's a basic port of the lame Xbox 360 version too so don't expect any improvements Sony fanboys. The game is glitchy, unfair, and way too awkward to even be consided to be a Sonic game. Go get yourself an old Genesis and play the original instead.

90 RESISTANCE: Fall of Man (Insomniac, November 17, 2006)

Thanks to all the positive reviews this launch Playstation 3 game was getting (well, it kind of was the only one getting really good reviews anyway) I just had to make Resistance my first game for the powerful Blu-Ray console here. Is this first person shooter from the creators of the Ratchet and Clank franchise really that good though, let's see. In this game you play in the era 1951 where World War II never occurred but that doesn't mean the you can rest easy. In story mode you play as American soldier named Nathan Hale who has to save the world from a well organized race of creatures know as the Chimera. So are these strange mutants here aliens trying to conquer Earth or is this some man made disaster that got out of hand? You'll have to play through the 30 chapters to find out in single player or split screen co-op play. Other then a few cool weapons, up to 40 player online multi-player, and some fast action with PS3 visuals the game plays just like most first person shooters out there and that's really the only knock you can say against it. To be fair though it's still at the top of the heap in its category so if you love these games you'll be able to handle these smooth controls no problem. If you love shooters and you like blasting people online then Resistance: Fall of Man is definitely a must have for PS3 owners.

ROCK BAND (Electronic Arts, 2007)

If you know anything about video games then you know Guitar Hero is awesome. Who doesn't want to play with a game guitar controller and be a part of a virtual rock band and go out on tour, eh? All that is cool but Rock Band here by EA Games takes the idea even further. Getting this game complete in the giant box not only gives you a wireless game guitar like in Guitar Hero but you also get a Microphone and cool Drum set too. Yes, the game lets you create your own rock band right in your own house and it comes loaded with music tracks from the Rolling Stones, and many more! The only problem with this awesome multi-player game is the thing is 200 bucks and you better have the room to play to begin with and patience neighbors as well because we there is no way to play this quietly. Of course you got to play Rock Band at full blast so I say screw them! If you want a great party game and you have the cash then it's time to leave the boring world behind and pick up this wild game.
