Adult games released for the Atari 2600!?
When we usually
think back about the good old Atari
2600 era we usually remember how simple and how easy to play
the games were back then. Remember all those wholesome video games like Pac
Man, Asteroids, and Centipede? That's why it can be hard to believe of any
kind of adult video game could ever be released for the old VCS machine. But
any hardcore Atari fan will tell you: it's true! The first game that comes to
mind for me is a vile game called Custer's Revenge.
The main objective in this game is to guide a naked General Custer (remember
that goon from early American history?) across a desert while avoiding several
arrows to make it to a naked Native American women tied to a pole. As bad as
that is "It gets worse!" You can actually see Custer's blocky penis
in this......... yuck! I hope all the programmers for this disgusting game are
all rotting in heck by now.
So why would Atari
ever approve of such a game? They didn't for one! Atari had no control over
any third party companies in the Atari 2600 era like Nintendo, MicroSoft,
and Sony have today, so anything could be made for the old
VCS and there was nothing really anybody can do about it. Most stores would
try and hide these games like this under the counter instead of on the shelf
to avoid any protests or angry moms.
Custer's Revenge isn't the only one of these games either. There are other Adult
themed 2600 games like Beat em and Eat em, Porky's, Halloween and more
that are usually on Ebay or other auctions but be prepared to shell out
a lot of cash to get them. Although you have to put up with some rather dismal
graphics the games can still be very offensive so keep the kids away. Collectors
should be sure to keep an eye out for them.
